Francesca Alaimo: Queerness, Vulnerability and Strength
Earlier this year Guy Cry Club teamed up with the ever inspirational Sassify Zine to help judge an iteration of their Queer Creative Fund. Francesca Alaimo - an Italian British artist currently based in London - was selected as the winner of the fund with their captivating queer narratives carved out from an intricate and transformative process. I spoke to Francesca about the power art can have in expressing identity and in shaping lives.
NUZU: Masculinity, Mental health and the Culture of Rap
Rap group NUZU are making serious waves with their conceptual, intelligent and genre-defying tracks. Each member invites us to explore a different perspective of the world they collectively create, harnessing their imagination to fuel narratives that are true to each individual. I sat down with Jack, Kofi and Teige to speak about their relationships with artistic expression and how this exists alongside their experiences of masculinity, mental health and the broader culture of rap.
FREEDOM: A lgbtq+ Call For Art
I’m super excited to announce that I am on the curators team for a Summer exhibition organised by Suffolk Pride. We are looking for artwork responding to the theme of ‘freedom’, created by members of the lgbtq+ community from Suffolk. All artwork will be included in an online gallery and a selection with be on show at DanceEast, Ipswich.

Dare to Dip: Day 42
On Sunday 25th April at 7:30am i met up with the MANUP? folks by Felixstowe Pier. We wanted to show our support to Sam Phillips and his ever growing Dare to Dip crew. Sam has challenged himself to take a dip in the sea every morning for a year as an act of awareness for mental health and to raise money for Anxiety UK.

Pride in Suffolk’s Past: Sharing LGBTQ+ Stories Past and Present
Pride in Suffolk’s Past explores the hidden histories of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender non-conforming people in Suffolk’s past. Due to legal and social repression these stories have all too often gone untold. Through original documents found in Suffolk Archives and local collections, these experiences can now be shared for future generations to understand how things have changed over time, and what work is still to be done.
The Cold Water Felixstowe Dip
On Sunday 25th April we will gather at Felixstowe Pier and run into the ocean for an uplifting cold water experience. A simple act to bring men together and publicly show support of men’s mental health.
We Create Space: I See You, I See Me
On Saturday 17th April We Create Space are hosting a workshop exploring what it is to be a queer man in 2021. It will invite participants to look at their own relationship with sex, masculinity and self-image through interactive exercises, discussion and mindfulness.
Postcard Culture
At the end of March i launched the first call for art as part of a new series of zines. Each zine will house a collection of responses to a specific theme which have been recorded on postcards and sent in to Guy Cry Club.
But why am i asking the public to express their views on a postcard? Well…
