I wanted to share with you all that a piece of my artwork will be exhibited at Pride in Suffolk’s Past: Sharing LGBTQ+ Stories Past and Present. The artwork which you can see here is part of a series called Queer Power. The repeated phrase on this piece “FEARLESS EXISTENCE IN THE FACE OF PREJUDICE” is an exploration of authenticity as defiance and as self-care. Asserting the idea that being authentically yourself even when you are faced with bias and hate leads to growth, for you as an individual and for the community you are a part of. For me the artworks i create blur the lines between masculinity, mental health and sexuality. That blurring of notions is a reality, an ongoing dialogue between these different ideas, how i feel about them and how others perceive them in regards to my body and my mind.

The exhibition as a whole will feature original documents found in Suffolk Archives as well as other local collections. Members of the public were also invited to share their stories and experiences as LGBTQ+ folks to be showcased alongside historical pieces, and other artworks. It is as much a collection of Suffolk’s LGBTQ+ history as it is a continuation of records, expanding the collection for future generations and redefining the county’s relationship with LGBTQ+ communities.

Take a look at some of there events which are also happening alongside the exhibition here: Exhibition programme.
