Ipswich Creatives Meetup: Led Creatives x Suffolk Pride

In celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month Suffolk Pride are taking over this month’s Ipswich Creatives Meetup, and have asked little ol’me to be the host. It will take place at Eastern Angles, Ipswich on Thursday 24th February and everyone is invited to come along. The focal point of the evening will be a panel discussion on queerness within the creative industries and afterwards there will be a chance to chill out and speak to everyone else in the room.

Ipswich Creatives Meetup is a monthly gathering organised by Led Creatives. Headed up by Ed Ngai and Rosy May, they work incredibly hard to bring about a multitude of opportunity for creatives within East Anglia. The meetups have always been an inclusive and welcoming space where creatives have been coming to find out more about what is going on in the region, and simply connect. Each month there is a guest speaker and then a chance to speak with other likeminded individuals about art, creativity, or well anything you fancy. It is a very informal and safe space to be and a chance to celebrate the achievements of local creatives.

As part of this month’s meetup I will be leading a panel discussion that will explore what it means to be queer within the creative industries; what challenges we face and how to succeed in spite of these, how positive changes can be made, and how we can best celebrate queerness behind the scenes and in public spaces.

The panel will include:

  • Ellena Woolf, she/they: Spoken Word Artist

  • Jobie, he/him: Musician

  • Tiah, she/they: Musician

  • Sharpay, she/they: Artist

  • Thomas Evans, he/him: Fashion & Graphic Designer

  • Lindsey Woods, she/her: Theatre Producer

Afterwards there will be a chance to speak to the panellists and everyone else in the room.

Everyone is welcome to come along to this evert, as they are for each and every meetup. Let us know you’re coming and invite your friends via the Facebook event below, or simply rock up on the night. We can’t wait to see you all.
